V Magazine To Feature Plus Size Women

Karl Lagerfield, who was just months ago bashing plus size women by saying “no one wants to see round women” is now photographing those round women for the upcoming issue of V magazine.

The edgy indie publication’s January issue is their “size” issue that will be devoted to ladies of all body types including plus size women.

“Big, little, pint-size, plus-size — every body is beautiful,” V’s editor-in-chief Stephen Gan told the New York Post. “And this issue is out to prove it.”

The magazine will have larger ladies like the plus size model Crystal Renn as well as the burlesque dancer Miss Dirty Martini.

V’s move to feature larger, more normal sized women comes after the huge success Glamour had with its portraits of naked plus-sized models in their November issue.

In addition to Lagerfeld, StyleList confirmed that photographers shooting for the issue include husband-and-wife team Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, bad boy shutterbug Terry Richardson, and Bruce Weber, known for capturing the shirtless hard bodies of the Abercrombie & Fitch capmaigns).

Will the incorporation of plus sized models and plus sized clothing items be an ongoing feature for V like Glamour promised it would be for them?  Only time will tell.
